Immunohistochemical analysis of FFPE human colorectal cancer sections showing lymphocyte expression of CD4.

Cat# RPA01730 was used as primary antibody, dilution 1:400, DAB chromogenic staining.

Immunohistochemical analysis of FFPE mouse kidney sections showing lymphocyte expression of CD4.

Cat# RPA01730 was used as primary antibody, dilution 1:200, DAB chromogenic staining.

Polyclonal CD4 antibody was produced from sera of rabbits  immunized with synthetic protein containing CD4 antigenic determinants.
Species reactivity:

Serum IgG fraction was purified by Protein G affinity chromatography.

Lyophilized from sterile filtered PBS solution at a concentration of 1mg/ml.
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers
The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 1 year  from date of receipt at -20° C.
Upon reconstitution, this antibody can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8° C for one month, or at -20° C for six months without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

CD4 is a 55 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. In humans CD4 is expressed of peripheral T-cells, thymocytes, on macrophages and granulocytes. CD4 acts as a cellular adhesion molecule binding MHC class 2 molecules. It stabilizes the interaction of MHC class 2 restricted T- cells and antigen-presenting cells expressing an antigen in combination with a MHC class 2 molecule. Interactions of CD4 with MHC class 2 molecules are crucial during thymic development and subsequently for the function of single- positive CD4(+), CD8(-) T- lymphocytes. CD4 functions as an effector molecule for intracellular signal transduction. In T- lymphocytes CD4 has been found to be associated with tyrosine kinase lck which phosphorylates a number of other cell surface proteins and is involved probably in transducing the intracellular signal when these proteins are bound to their receptors.
