Molecular weight:

Recombinant human betacellulin (BTC) is a  monomeric protein consisting of 80 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates as an approximately 9 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.


 
Purity:
>96%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC

 
Biological Activity:
The ED(50) was determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of murine balb 3T3  cells was found to be <0.05ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2x 107Units/mg.

Endotoxin:
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg).

 
Presentation:
Recombinant beta cellulin was lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered  PBS, pH 7.4,
.

 
Reconstitution:
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

 
Storage:
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20° C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8° C for one month, or at -20° C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

betacellulin

Betacellulin (BTC) belongs to a class of growth factors characterized by a six-cysteine consensus motif that forms three intramolecular disulphide bonds critical for binding to the ErbB receptor tyrosine kinase family. Mammalian members of this family identified to date include EGF, amphiregulin, and transforming growth factor- (TGF-), which bind specifically to ErbB1, and heparin-binding EGF (HB-EGF), epiregulin and BTC, which exhibit dual receptor specificity in that they bind both ErbB1 and ErbB4.
