DNA sequence encoding immunodominant  fragment of HIV-1 gp120 was expressed in Escherichia Coli.

Molecular weight:

Recombinant HIV-1 gp120 encodes the immunodominant sequences of the HIV surface Glycoprotein 120. 

Recombinant HIV-1 Glycoprotein 120 contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 33 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

HIV1 gp120 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of HIV with minimal specificity problems.


Immunoreactive with sera of HIV-infected individuals.
Lyophilized from 20mM PBS pH-7.8, 20mM NaCl 0.5M, 1mM DTT & 8M urea.

A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20° C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8° C for one month, or at -20° C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

HIV-1 gp120

gp120 is a glycoprotein exposed on the surface of the HIV envelope.The glycoprotein gp120 is anchored to the viral membrane, or envelope, via non-covalent bonds with the transmembrane glycoprotein, gp41. It is involved in entry into cells by binding to CD4 receptors, particularly helper T-cells. ince CD4 receptor binding is the most obvious step in HIV infection, gp120 was among the first targets of HIV vaccine research. Efforts to develop HIV vaccines targeting gp120, however, have been hampered by the chemical and structural properties of gp120, which make it difficult for antibodies to bind to it. gp120 can also easily be shed from the surface of the virus and captured by T cells due to its loose binding with gp41. A conserved region in the gp120 glycoprotein that is involved in the metastable attachment of gp120 to CD4 has now been identified and targeting of invariant region has been achieved with a broadly neutralising antibody,
