DNA sequence encoding immunodominant  fragment of Varicella Zoster virus ORF9 protein was expressed in Escherichia Coli.

 
Molecular weight:

Recombinant Varicella Zoster virus ORF9 encodes the immunodominant sequences of the VZV ORF9 protein. This molecule has a calculated mass of approximately 5kDa.

Recombinant VZV ORF9 contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 31 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.


 
Purity:
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
 
Applications:

VZV ORF9 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of VZV with minimal specificity problems.

 

 Specificity:
Immunoreactive with sera of VZV-infected individuals.
 
Presentation:
Lyophilized from 25mM Tris-Hcl pH 8.0, 1mM EDTA and 50% glycerol.

 
Reconstitution:
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

 
Storage:
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20° C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8° C for one month, or at -20° C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

VZV ORF9

The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) ORF9 protein is a member of the herpesvirus UL49 gene family but shares limited identity and similarity with the UL49 prototype, herpes simplex virus type 1 VP22. ORF9 mRNA is the most abundantly expressed message during VZV infection. The VZV ORF9 protein has not been well characterized, despite the fact that its transcript is the most abundant viral message expressed during lytic infection.
