DNA sequence encoding immunodominant  fragment of Toxoplasma SAG1(p30) protein was expressed in Escherichia Coli.

Molecular weight:

Recombinant TOXGO SAG1(p30) encodes the immunodominant sequences of the Toxoplasma Dense Granule protein.

Recombinant SAG1 contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 43 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Toxoplasma SAG1 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of Toxoplasma with minimal specificity problems.


Immunoreactive with sera of Toxopalsma-infected individuals.
Lyophilized from 50mM Tris-HCl, 60mM NaCl and 50% glycerol.

A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20° C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8° C for one month, or at -20° C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Recent studies indicate that SAG1 may play an important role in invasion of host cells. Unlike surface antigens of other protozoa, such as plasmodia and trypanosomes, SAG1 is a nonvariant antigen which is well conserved immunologically and at the sequence level. SAG1 elicits a robust immune response in infected animals, including humans, and immunization with purified SAG1 protects mice from a lethal parasite challenge. This immunity appears to be primarily mediated by CD8+ cells specific for SAG1
